Under the direct supervision of the Facility Manager or Chief Radiology Technologist, this role performs scrub and circulating duties during interventional procedures. Responsibilities include preparing the procedure room, managing inventory and stocking of supplies, and cleaning the room post-procedure. The technologist may also assist with patient preparation, administer medications within their scope of practice, and perform patient transfers. Key duties involve acting as a scrub assistant during procedures, maintaining sterile technique, performing circulating duties, and ensuring patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA. The role also focuses on maintaining the facility's environmental integrity, ensuring equipment is in proper working condition, and assisting with the disposal of waste and sterilization of instruments. Additionally, the position supports efficient supply utilization to prevent wastage, upholds quality of patient care through Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives, and assists in implementing quality goals. Maintaining medical records, participating in data collection and audits, and providing clerical and practical support to physicians and staff are also integral. This includes ensuring necessary instruments and equipment are available, printing and sending images, assisting with new employee training, filing paperwork, and managing inventory and supply orders. The role may also involve processing and archiving x-ray images and participating in regulatory surveys.
