About The Position

The surgical technician prepares the operating room and instruments for assigned surgical cases. Under direct and frequent supervision, the technician performs job duties for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The role anticipates the doctor’s needs before and during procedures, assists with cleaning the room and instruments after procedures, and takes surgery call.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Clinical knowledge of sterile techniques and asepsis, and the ability to apply this knowledge before and during surgical procedures.
• BLS certification completed before going to the unit or department and maintained thereafter.
• Must obtain CST after qualifications have been met.

Nice To Haves

• One to two years of scrubbing experience.
• CST certification preferred.
