About The Position

This job performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions. The Surgical Technologist assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies, utilizes proper aseptic techniques and practices standard precautions, and follows policy for medication and specimen handling. They also assist with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participate in the surgical pause to assure correct patient and surgical site. The role involves understanding, anticipating, and adapting to surgeon preference and patient care variables, and contributing to updating surgeon preference materials. Additionally, the Surgical Technologist performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts, and cares for and utilizes resources to promote a cost-effective and efficient environment for patients. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Minimum One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Surgical Technologist (ST) hired after 12/29/2020 require one of the following: Education and Certification: Accredited Surgical Technologist program completion and nationally recognized certification (CST, TS-C) within 6 months of hire. Military programs accepted.
  • Pre-existing Employment: Employment as a surgical technologist by this facility before 12/29/2020, or at another facility within the two years prior to 12/29/2020.
  • CPR – American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
