About The Position

The Surgical Technologist maintains sterile conditions, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, and ensures that all instruments and supplies are available and properly handled. This is the first level in the Surgical Technologist career ladder. The role involves providing safe, efficient, and age-specific nursing care to patients and families, assisting them in attaining, maintaining, regaining, and sustaining optimal health status. The technologist will function in a primary scrub position, assist with technical responsibilities in assigned operative procedures, and ensure appropriate instruments and supplies are present and in proper working condition. Additionally, the role includes providing labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field, supporting the operative team by following patient care handoff protocols, and actively participating in quality improvement and self-improvement initiatives. The position also requires performing other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards, and adhering to requirements for safely and securely maintaining Protected Health Information (PHI).

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program (Required)
  • Completion of a military Surgical Technologist training program (Required)
  • Thorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation, suture and surgical procedures. (Required proficiency)
  • Use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies. (Required proficiency)
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to take direction and work in a team environment
  • Ability to use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required within 90 Days)

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using nursing interventions in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

  • Assure appropriate instruments/supplies are present and in proper working condition.

  • Involved in learning and self-improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
