The Surgical Technologist provides safe and efficient care to surgical patients under the supervision of a registered nurse and in collaboration with the surgeon. Primarily functioning in the scrub role, the technologist selects, prepares, and maintains instrumentation, equipment, and supplies; applies sterile and aseptic techniques; and adapts to unpredictable situations in the perioperative setting. The role draws on knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, instrumentation, and technology as part of the surgical team. The Jacksonville hospital has 34 operating rooms, including an IMRI OR suite and a dedicated endovascular OR suite, and uses modern equipment and advanced technology. Candidates may be considered for either the Surgical Technologist or Advanced Surgical Technologist role based on experience, specialty training, and qualifications. The Advanced Surgical Technologist supports complex procedures in specialties such as Cardiothoracic, Transplant, Neurosurgery, and Vascular, and contributes to protocol development, specialty instrumentation management, and workflow optimization. Staff may be required to cover other surgical services based on practice needs and competency. Applicants must live within a reasonable driving distance of campus to meet the 45-minute on-call requirement.
