About The Position

The Surgical Technologist provides safe and efficient care to surgical patients under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon. The role functions primarily in the scrub role and is responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. The Surgical Technologist applies sterile and aseptic techniques and adapts to unpredictable situations in the perioperative setting. The role uses knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, instrumentation, and technology as a member of the surgical team.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program.
• Surgical Technology certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire and maintained thereafter, subject to the stated location- and hire-date exceptions.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Providers through the AHA or Red Cross; required upon hire.
