The UW MEDICAL CENTER - NORTHWEST – CHILDBIRTH CENTER has an outstanding opportunity for a SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST. The role involves facilitating assigned surgical procedures through the assembly of instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. Success in this position requires organization, a desire to work in a team-oriented academic medical setting, capability to stay abreast of current developments relevant to the position, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and knowledge of the duties of a Surgical Technologist.

Requirements

Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND one year of experience assisting clinical staff in a variety of operative procedures in an operating room environment OR equivalent education/experience.
Certification as scrub technologist and/or six months of experience as an Operating Room Technician in a hospital operating room or childbirth center

Responsibilities

Take the lead in the patient care experience by prepping and maintaining our Operating Rooms for surgical procedures
Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and partners, from our scheduling team to surgeons
Work in a dynamic, fast-paced, problem-solving environment while maintaining vigilance of instruments and supplies used during surgical procedures
Perform scrub role while supporting patient safety a sterile environment
Support of post-operative tasks, including removal of contaminated instruments, decontamination, sterilization and turnover of the Operating Room
