About The Position

The UW MEDICAL CENTER - NORTHWEST – CHILDBIRTH CENTER has an outstanding opportunity for a SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST. This is a Part-Time position with 24 hours per week on the Night Shift. You will be responsible for facilitating assigned surgical procedures through the assembly of instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. Inherent to success in this position is organization, desire to work in a team-oriented academic medical setting, capability to stay abreast of current developments relevant to the position, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and knowledge of the duties of a Surgical Technologist.

Requirements

Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND one year of experience assisting clinical staff in a variety of operative procedures in an operating room environment OR equivalent education/experience.
Certification as scrub technologist
Six months of experience as an Operating Room Technician in a hospital operating room or childbirth center
Organization
Desire to work in a team-oriented academic medical setting
Capability to stay abreast of current developments relevant to the position
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of the duties of a Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities

Take the lead in the patient care experience by prepping and maintaining our Operating Rooms for surgical procedures
Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and partners, from our scheduling team to surgeons
Work in a dynamic, fast-paced, problem-solving environment while maintaining vigilance of instruments and supplies used during surgical procedures
Perform scrub role while supporting patient safety a sterile environment
Support of post-operative tasks, including removal of contaminated instruments, decontamination, sterilization and turnover of the Operating Room
