About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking Surgical Technologist students to commit to serving in the operating room at St. Mary's Medical Center, located in Duluth, Minnesota. Selected applicants will receive a paid education benefit of $20,000 in exchange for serving at Essentia Health for a 2-year period of time upon graduation. You must be currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology program to qualify. Online certificate programs and prerequisite courses will not qualify you for this program. This surgical technologist works 36 hours weekly, including every fourth weekend and a holiday rotation. Shifts are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, and 11:00 pm to 7:30 am. Around four night shifts are required every four weeks.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Online certificate programs and prerequisite courses will not qualify you for this program.
• AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required within 1 month of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Obtaining a certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions under the supervision of an RN in providing technical interventions in the Operating Room to patients of all ages.
• Responsible for tasks relating to instrumentation, equipment, prosthesis, and supplies.
• May perform other duties as assigned by the department.
