About The Position

Finger Lakes Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join their Surgical Services team. This role is for individuals passionate about patient care, who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and take pride in being an essential member of the operating room team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play an important role in supporting safe, efficient surgical procedures and providing exceptional care to patients. You will work closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other members of the healthcare team to help ensure every procedure runs smoothly.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program OR Evidence of NYS Department of Health exemption based on one year of cumulative surgical technologist experience between January 1, 2011 and January 1, 2015 OR Current NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the RQI system during clinical orientation.
  • Surgical Technologist Certification for Surgical Technologist program graduates who do not qualify under the NYS Department of Health exemption.
  • Current NYS LPN license, when applicable.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification.
  • At least one year of healthcare experience, OR Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program with evidence of application for Surgical Technologist certification.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an integral member of the surgical team during procedures.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and ancillary departments.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operating room environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and compassion when interacting with patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Follow established hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced surgical environment.
