About The Position

Deaconess Illinois is hiring a Surgical Technologist to work with its surgical team in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. The role is an essential part of the operating room team, preparing for procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, supporting surgeons and nurses, and helping provide safe, high-quality patient care. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Operating Room Technology or an accredited Nursing Program.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of hire.
• Illinois LPN license required for candidates applying as LPNs.

Nice To Haves

• One year of Surgical Technologist or LPN experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assist physicians and nursing staff during a variety of surgical procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and an aseptic environment throughout procedures.
• Support patient preparation, transportation, and post-procedure care activities.
• Handle specimens and ensure their timely transport to appropriate departments.
• Monitor inventory, restock supplies, and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Assist with patient comfort, safety, and quality care initiatives.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, students, and fellow team members to support excellent patient outcomes.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and departmental projects.
