About The Position
Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The role supports the Surgical Services team at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, preparing the operating room and assisting with surgical procedures and room turnover. The schedule is Monday to Friday, working four 10-hour shifts from 6:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with call and holiday rotation. The position is in the CT service. A $12,500 sign-on bonus is offered. Barnes-Jewish Hospital is part of Washington University Medical Center and is described as Missouri’s largest hospital and one of the nation’s top hospitals. Its Perioperative Services team works in a fast-paced environment with surgeons and anesthesiologists, complex procedures, and current technologies and treatments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Less than two years of experience or military-equivalent experience.
- No supervisor experience required.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an accredited surgical program.
- Surgical Technician certification.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgical patients, review preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtain necessary supplies and equipment, ensure the room is clean, and assist with opening sterile supplies.
- Perform surgical scrub duties and assist with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
- Assist with turning over the room and ensure supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to their proper locations.
