About The Position

A Surgical Technologist is a critical member of the surgical team who assists during operative procedures by preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and providing direct assistance to surgeons and nurses. This role requires a strong understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols. Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center located in Woodbridge, VA is a 183-bed not-for-profit hospital. Requirements

  • Trade School Degree in Surgical Technologist (Required)
  • Surgical Technologist Licensure required in the state of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the operating room is properly prepared with the necessary instruments and equipment.
  • Assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
  • Maintains patient safety and ensuring that the surgical environment is organized, clean, and sterile.
  • Assists in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes and transferring patients to recovery areas.
  • Adheres to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
  • Works closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures.
