About The Position

This position requires a 30-minute callback response time and involves a 40-hour work week, typically from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday through Friday. The role includes a call rotation for weekdays, holidays, and weekends, with one call weekend per month. The Surgical Technologist collaborates with team members in preparing the operating room, utilizing principles of sterile technique to ensure a clean and safe environment. They analyze collected data to formulate a plan of care contributing to high-quality and safe outcomes. Additionally, they assist the healthcare team by being fiscally responsible in ordering supplies and communicating any inventory, equipment, or instrument needs to ensure department efficiency. The role also involves seeking educational resources to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills, contributing to a high-performance work environment. Secondary duties may include providing direct patient care to mothers and newborns as delegated by the assigned nurse, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment, including supply stocking.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited surgical technician program.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology required with the exception of staff previously granted grandfather status who then must demonstrate competence as described in Indiana Code concerning professions and occupations.
  • Previous hospital or healthcare experience.
  • Clinical experience.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • 15 continuing education units for those in grandfather status.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Surgical Technology preferred.
  • Certification recommended.
