About The Position

This is a part-time PRN (as needed) position for a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at High Point Medical Center. The role is to assist with granting Paid Time Off (PTO) for other staff members. The Surgical Technologist ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking and management of case-specific needs under the supervision of an RN. They are responsible for the cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment, and supplies, and communicate effectively with the team, co-workers, and patients. The position also involves taking responsibility for professional growth and development, and demonstrating cost containment activities related to instruments and inventory.

Requirements

• Graduation from a Surgical Technology program.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking, anticipation and management of case specific needs, under direct supervision of the RN.
• Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Communicates to the team, co-workers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner. Demonstrates effective, positive, professional manners while exercising verbal and nonverbal communication to the multidisciplinary team, co-workers, and patients.
• Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
• Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory.
