Surgical Technologist- Full Time Evenings

About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technologist facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures and reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values. The position adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, as well as applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with 4–5 call requirement shifts within a six-week period.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
CPR – Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

Prepare the operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies.
Ensure equipment and instruments are available and functional.
Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
Pass instruments to the physician during surgery.
Continuously account for the number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
Receive and process specimens, when required, for delivery to the laboratory.
