This may include clipping, transporting, positioning, and ensuring aseptic incision sites. The surgical technologist may also assist in the preparation of patients prior to procedures, make minor adjustments to avoid instrument malfunctions, and keep instruments in operating condition. They may conduct sterile and unsterile supply quality assurance checks according to sterilization principles before procedures and verify the completeness of items when returned from the surgical site. Participation in reconciliation activities is also part of the role. The position requires positive interpersonal relationships, well-developed critical thinking skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with adaptability to changes in duties with minimal notice.
