About The Position

Franciscan Health Lafayette East Campus is seeking a Travel Surgical Technologist to perform various tasks supporting perioperative services. This position assists multiple disciplines of an operating room by preparing patients, equipment, and the environment for procedures. The Surgical Technologist provides technical assistance to surgeons by anticipating instruments during surgical procedures, and measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents, and other solutions. Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience
  • Recent experience using EPIC preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year Surgery
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)

Responsibilities

  • Arrange instrument trays, prepare sterile drapes and solutions, and help the surgical team put on caps, gowns, and gloves.
  • Assist with prep of patients as needed.
  • Pass instruments to surgeons and surgical assistants.
  • May assist with sponge, needle, and other supply counts to track materials used in surgery.
  • May operate suction, diagnostic, and sterilizing equipment, and package specimens to take for laboratory analysis.
  • Clinic responsibilities may include rooming patients, taking vitals, orders, and routing phone calls.
