About The Position

Surgical Technologist Trainee - Full-Time Days FLEX Cayuga Health System began by joining two longstanding, independent hospitals into a cohesive health-care network providing seamless, comprehensive, community centered care for the residents of central New York. A Surgical Tech Trainee will learn the role of a Surgical Technologist on the job with provided education and clinical experience. Provides technical and clinical support to the perioperative team during a variety of surgical procedures. Performs duties as the primary scrub person by handling instrumentation, supplies and equipment. Anticipates the surgeon and procedural needs. Must be able to complete the didactic program provided within 8 months.

Requirements

BLS Certification up to date
Minimum 1 year experience in a direct patient care environment required
Must be able to complete the didactic education program provided within 8 months.

Responsibilities

Maintains operative care standards according to AORN guidelines.
Stocks rooms, cleans equipment, and prepares supplies based on surgeon and anesthesia needs.
Assists with patient positioning, surgical hand scrubs, counts, and Time Out procedures.
Identifies and addresses safety hazards, follows universal precautions, and infection control protocols.
Organizes tasks to meet patient and unit needs, adapts to changes, and stays current with education and policies.
