About The Position

Sierra Donor Services (SDS) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Surgical Recovery Coordinator to join their team and contribute to saving lives through organ donation. This role is crucial for the surgical removal, preservation, packaging, and distribution of organs. New Mexico Donor Services, a member of the DCI Donor Services family, is the designated organ procurement organization for New Mexico. DCI Donor Services has a long-standing history of leadership in reducing the transplant waiting list through a nationwide approach to donation and distribution, while maintaining strong community ties. They operate multiple OPOs and tissue/eye banks across California, New Mexico, and Tennessee. The organization's success is measured by its service to donor families and recipients, aiming to extend the reach of each donor's gift through people and technology. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years experience in the operating room or recent graduate of a certified surgical technician program required.
  • Health-related certification and ISOP Level 1 by completion of the first year.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications and basic data entry skills required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and assists in the surgical recovery, preservation, and packaging of organs and specimens in conjunction with transplant surgeons and/or organ recovery coordinators in accordance with policies and standards.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for the renal preservation process including pumping and pump transport, in accordance with policies and standards.
  • Performs extensive on-call responsibilities to assist with the activities related to the donor recovery.
  • Coordinates and assists with organ allocation, including kidney and liver placement, distribution, and transportation of organs for transplantation and/or research in accordance with policies and standards.
  • Coordinates and assists with fly outs and fly backs.
