About The Position

The Surgical Technologist/Surgical Scrub Assistant will assist physicians in the completion of invasive vascular procedures. This role requires detailed knowledge of all exams performed in the OBL angiosuite, including the ability to explain procedures to patients and their families. The assistant will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of all equipment used in the angiosuite, such as Ultrasound, digital subtraction angiography, cine radiography, Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), atherectomy devices, and angiojet device. They must be familiar with sterile technique and perform the role of scrub or circulator. Extensive knowledge of lab products, including specialty wires, catheters, angioplasty balloons, stents, ports, and central lines, is essential. The position also involves post-processing of radiographic images in the PACs system, inventory management, and preparing for procedures by communicating with physicians about necessary equipment and products. An extensive understanding of anatomy and physiology is important for this role.

Requirements

  • Experience with first assist in sterile procedures
  • Experience with endovascular procedures
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification by date of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience with endovascular procedures including angiography, PVD interventions, embolization and thrombectomy procedures
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in vascular-interventional setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians in the completion of invasive vascular procedures
  • Has detailed knowledge of all exams that can be performed in the OBL angiosuite and can explain procedures to patients and their families.
  • Maintenance and knowledge of how to operate all equipment used in the angiosuite including: Ultrasound, digital subtraction angiography, cine radiography, Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), atherectomy devices and angiojet device.
  • Familiar with sterile technique and performs the role of scrub or circulator
  • Extensive knowledge of all products in lab including: Specialty wires, catheters, angioplasty balloons, all varieties of stents, ports and central lines.
  • Post processing of radiographic images on radiographic equipment and in the PACs system
  • Inventory management
  • Prep all procedures and communicate with physicians about necessary equipment, products, and approach
