About The Position

MercyOne is hiring a Surgical Technician to join its Operating Room. The role prepares the operating room for surgical procedures, including instruments, equipment, and supplies, and maintains the sterile field during procedures. The technician scrubs primarily general cases, which may include general surgery, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and plastics, and may serve as second, third, or fourth scrub in all surgical specialties. The colleague follows MercyOne performance expectations and performs services and related duties in accordance with its mission, vision, values, and cultural beliefs. This is a full-time position scheduled for 36 hours per week, working 12-hour day shifts from 0700 to 1900. No prior experience is required. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology, completion of a surgical tech apprenticeship, or completion of a military program; alternatively, graduate of an LPN program with surgical experience or equivalent experience demonstrating competency.
BLS certification.
Mandatory Reporter qualification.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people and under pressure, with a large degree of independence and accountability.
Ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control, or planning of an activity.
Adaptability to perform varied duties and change tasks without losing efficiency or composure.
LPN license required for graduates of an LPN program.
CST certification is required within 18 months of hire if working in Illinois.

Nice To Haves

CST certification is preferred, but not required in Iowa.
