About The Position
This role acts as a member of the surgical team, primarily functioning in a scrubbing capacity. The position may also involve assisting with circulating duties within the surgical suite. The responsibilities include maintaining aseptic technique, preparing the OR suite, anticipating surgeon's needs, utilizing surgical instruments, handling specimens, and assisting with training new employees.
Requirements
- A graduate of an approved school of surgical technology or program accepted by the Association of Surgical Technologists required.
- BLS within 30 days
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- NH Medical Technician OR Tmp Medical Technician
Responsibilities
- Maintains aseptic technique while providing a quiet environment in the OR suite, respecting the dignity and privacy of the patient.
- Shares in OR suite preparation.
- Uses and maintains specialized equipment and supplies used for specific surgical procedures.
- Anticipates the needs of the surgeon to expedite the procedure.
- Utilizes surgical instruments and knowledge of the step-by-step sequences for surgical procedures.
- Assumes shared responsibility for proper handling of surgical specimens.
- Assists in training and orientation of new employees.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
