Surgical Technologist Certified (1.0 FTE, Days)

About The Position

Works with the surgical team to deliver patient care during surgery. Prepares the operating room and maintains sterile instruments and supplies, supports the surgical team throughout procedures, and participates in patient safety activities. This position is 1.0 FTE, days. The wage range is $34.56–$57.67 per hour. Candidates new to EvergreenHealth with at least two years of current Surgery Tech experience may be eligible for a bonus of up to $10,000. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW); union membership is optional.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Must be registered as a Surgical Technologist within the State of Washington.
Must have and maintain NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification.
Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire.

Nice To Haves

Two years of Surgical Tech experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure according to the policy and procedure manual.
Maintain close attention to aseptic technique.
Perform all counts defined in OR policies and procedures and document them on the OR record.
Maintain an orderly and sterile instrument table and/or Mayo stand according to standardized setups.
Identify instrument sterility and know all indicator parameters.
Anticipate the surgical routine and act proactively according to the surgeon’s instructions.
Handle unexpected situations with calm efficiency.
Ask appropriate questions to enhance patient care.
Handle medications on the sterile field under the direct observation of a registered nurse.
Handle records, labels, and specimens according to established policy and procedure.
Participate in patient safety activities, including the pre-surgical pause.
Perform other duties as assigned.
