This position assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior, during, and after surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist also assists the Registered Nurse circulator in patient preparation, assembly of supplies, instruments, and equipment, and proper disposition of all specimens. They are responsible for room turnover and monitoring surgical supplies for sterility and judicious use, ensuring accurate charge documentation. The role involves monitoring and documenting sterilization activities, attending in-services and staff meetings, and participating in performance improvement processes and educational opportunities to enhance competency. Additionally, the Surgical Technologist may assist in developing policies and procedures, serve as a preceptor, and contribute to clinical projects.
