About The Position
A Surgical Technologist is a member of the surgical team who works with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery.
Requirements
- Within one year of start date in this role, employee fulfills the educational requirements for completion of a nationally and NYS accredited educational program for surgical technologists and is eligible to take the Certified Surgical Technologist certification exam within 6 months of graduation, administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) NBSTSA.
- Currently in Surgical Technologist clinical rotations.
- Actively enrolled in accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification required.
- Eligible to become certified in surgical technology administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization (unless otherwise qualified per the NYS Public Health Law).
- Aseptic Technique and in-depth knowledge of surgical equipment highly desirable.
- Good communication, positive attitude, team-player.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful and/or emergency situations.
