About The Position

Performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room. Performs similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.

Requirements

• Current BLS Certification.
• Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy related to procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of techniques used by various surgeons for various procedures.
• Able to assemble and troubleshoot equipment as necessary for procedures.
• Able to safely operate equipment used in the operating room and specialty areas.
• Demonstrates understanding of asepsis principles and consistently maintains sterile technique.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate from a formal, accredited Surgical Technician training program or equivalent.
• Two years of experience as a Surgical Technician.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical skills and assist surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room.
• Perform similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.
• Assemble and troubleshoot equipment as necessary for procedures.
• Ensure necessary equipment, including nonnarcotic medications such as Lidocaine, is in the room before a case begins.
• Safely operate electrosurgical, diagnostic, microscopic laser, video, disposable, and specialty-specific equipment.
• Maintain sterile technique and follow principles of asepsis.
