About The Position

The Surgical Technician assists surgeons during the pediatric intraoperative phase in accordance with AORN and OSA standards of practice. The role collaborates with healthcare team members to meet patient and family needs in a cost-effective manner and provides customer service to patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other team members. The Surgical Technician maintains sterile technique, prepares age-appropriate instruments and supplies for each procedure, uses physicians’ preference cards, and passes instruments. The position serves as a team player and role model, communicates openly, and contributes to education, coaching, patient advocacy, change initiatives, and departmental quality improvement goals. Work is required at both the main and south campuses. Call is required, and the employee must reside within 30 minutes of the main campus.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technical school.
• Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology, or a high school diploma/GED plus a Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology.
• Must reside within 30 minutes of the main campus.
• CPR certification must be obtained within two weeks of the start date if not already held.

Nice To Haves

• CPR certification at the time of hire is preferred.
