About The Position
This residency program is for graduates of a Surgical Technology Program without prior work experience. The program lasts at least 6 months and involves working with surgeons, Anesthesiologists, RNs, and other surgical personnel to provide patient care during surgery. Residents will work with a preceptor, gradually taking on more responsibility. The role involves handling instruments, supplies, and equipment, anticipating the surgeon's needs, and maintaining a sterile environment. This position is located at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
Requirements
- Completion of a Surgical Technology program through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or graduated from a Surgical Technology Military Training program.
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Works with surgeons, Anesthesiologists, RNs, and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care during surgery.
- Assumes increased responsibility during the residency.
- Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
- Anticipates the needs of the surgeon in providing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintains a sterile environment.
