Surgical Technician and Senior Surgical Technician - General Surgery
About The Position
This is a combined posting for Surgical Technician and Senior Surgical Technician. The requirements of each role are listed below under each associated title. As a member of the surgical team, under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse Circulator, maintains the operating room sterile field; passes instruments, sutures, and sponges during surgery. Insures that proper aseptic technique is utilized to prevent contamination and infection. Assists the registered nurse with circulating duties. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or Armed Services Surgical Technology program
- National Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting upon hire OR National Tech in Surgery - Certified - National Center for Competency Testing upon hire
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
- 3 years of Experience as a certified surgical technician (for Senior Surgical Technician role)
Responsibilities
- Maintains the operating room sterile field
- Passes instruments, sutures, and sponges during surgery
- Ensures that proper aseptic technique is utilized to prevent contamination and infection
- Assists the registered nurse with circulating duties
- Performs in the role of second scrub and/or first assistant as needed
