About The Position

The Surgical Technologist/LPN works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs procedures within their scope of practice to provide safe and effective service to patients and surgeons. The Surgical Technologist anticipates the needs of the surgical team and proficiently handles and passes instruments, sutures, sponges, and other sterile equipment as needed.

This is a per-diem, as-needed position at the STHS Surgery Center. The stated shift is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with no call, weekends, or holidays. Scheduled weekly hours are listed as TBD.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Good communication and decision-making skills.
• If an LPN, hold a current Louisiana LPN license.
• Hold current BLS certification through an ILCOR-provided course; the course must include a manikin check-off.
• Possess good physical health and be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods.
• Be able to lift at least 50 pounds and work with a moderate level of noise.
• Physical effort includes constant reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, and crouching; and occasional climbing or crawling.

Nice To Haves

• One year of Operating Room experience.
• Surgical Technology certification.
• For LPNs, one year of surgical technology experience; acute care setting preferred.
