About The Position

At St. Tammany Health System, the Surgical Technologist/LPN works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs procedures within their scope of practice to provide the safest and most effective service to patients and surgeons. The Surgical Technologist anticipates the surgical team's needs and proficiently handles and passes instruments, sutures, sponges, and other required sterile equipment.

This is a per-diem role at the STHS Surgery Center. Work is as needed, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is no call, weekend, or holiday work. Scheduled weekly hours are listed as TBD.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Good communication and decision-making skills.
• LPN applicants must have one year of surgical technology experience.
• Current Louisiana LPN license, if applicable.
• Current BLS certification through an ILCOR-provided course; the course must include a manikin check-off.
• Good physical health, including the ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with a moderate level of noise.
• Ability to perform the stated physical activities: constant reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, and crouching; and occasional climbing and crawling.

Nice To Haves

• One year of Operating Room experience.
• Surgical Technology certification.
• For LPN applicants, experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
