Surgical Tech II- Labor and Delivery: 40hrs/wk-Evenings
About The Position
Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who are an integral part of the team providing surgical care to patients. They work under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and a surgeon to facilitate surgical procedures, ensuring a safe operating room environment, proper equipment function, and patient safety. The surgical technologist handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures, anticipates the surgeon's needs, and maintains vigilance over the sterile field. This role requires the ability to function independently in the scrub role and as a circulator under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. The position may also involve on-call duties and rotating shifts.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
- CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Upon Hire - required
- LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure Upon Hire - required
Nice To Haves
- 1-3 years of scrubbing experience - preferred
- Familiar with all specialty services - preferred
Responsibilities
- Maintain sterile field
- Prepare operating rooms and assists with patient positioning as needed
- Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening, maintains sterility while scrubbed, maintains sterility of instruments and supplies
- Performance of accurate instrument, sponge and needle counts, following established policies and procedures
