About The Position

Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford is seeking a Full-Time Surgical Tech for their Labor and Delivery department. This role is responsible for preparing the operating suite, providing intraoperative support to the surgeon, assisting with patient care logistics, and maintaining inventory and safety controls. Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.
• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

• Ready the operating suite by setting up sterile drapes, solutions, and all necessary sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Anticipate and efficiently hand requested instruments and supplies to the surgeon throughout the procedure.
• Assist in the safe preparation, transportation, positioning, and draping of patients to ensure comfort and safety.
• Maintain a meticulously organized instrument field and rigorously track item counts to prevent retained objects.
