About The Position

Piedmont Eastside is seeking a full-time Surgical Tech II for the Operating Room. This role involves handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures, anticipating surgeon's needs, and maintaining sterile field integrity. The Surgical Tech II functions in partnership with licensed staff and performs patient care duties for various age groups under the direction of a registered nurse. The Surgical Services department offers sophisticated and advanced outpatient and inpatient surgical services, including robotic surgery, endovascular hybrid suite, comprehensive endoscopy, high volume endovascular surgery, robotic surgery for total knee replacements, state-of-the-art laparoscopic surgery, advanced minimally invasive neurosurgery, advanced and robotic urology surgery, and high volume orthopaedics. They also have an Operating Room Extern Program and ICU level PACU Services.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technology program Required
  • 3 years Certification as a Surgical Technologist or of surgical tech experience Required
  • BLS certification Required

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a member of the surgical team in the role of scrub person, including checking supplies, setting up the sterile table, performing surgical counts, participating in time-outs, passing instruments, maintaining sterile technique, preparing dressings, and cleaning instruments.
  • Functions as a member of the surgical team in partnership with licensed staff, anticipating surgeon's needs, observing patient condition, serving as a patient advocate, supporting licensed staff, assisting with cleaning, prepping rooms, and transporting patients.
  • Performs patient care duties for clients of various age groups under the direction of a registered nurse, including clipping, prepping surgical sites, positioning patients, and completing age-specific study modules.
  • Maintains competence by retaining new information and implementing new processes or using new equipment.
  • Performs other essential duties, including serving as a preceptor, preparing case carts, preparing OR rooms, and stocking, cleaning, and requesting supplies.
