About The Position

The Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department includes the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department, and a Sterile Processing Department. The Surgical Tech-OR functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse, performing scrub functions and other roles to support the perioperative plan of care. This role requires knowledge of operative procedures and aseptic techniques, including gowning, gloving, sterilization, and disinfection. The position also involves active participation in unit activities, ensuring positive customer relations, and being on call for weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified individuals.

Requirements

Technical Diploma; Associate degree.
Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
National Certification CST Certified Surgical Technologist.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.

Responsibilities

Functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse.
Performs scrub functions and other roles, which support the perioperative plan of care.
Demonstrates knowledge of operative procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique including but not limited to gowning, gloving sterilization, and disinfection.
Actively participates in unit activities.
Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
On call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation.
