Requirements
- Current certification by the NBSTA, JCAHPO or NCCT as a Surgical Technologist.
- Education completed at a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited education program.
- Military qualification as a Surgical Technologist may be substituted for CST certification with 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
- Must maintain certifications throughout duration of employment.
- Current certification as a Surgical Tech First Assist from an accredited institution.
- BLS required, ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Prefer at least two years' experience as a Surgical Scrub Tech First Assist.
Responsibilities
- Collaboration with the surgeon and surgical team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Must acquire the necessary knowledge, judgement, and skills specific to the expanded role of Scrub Tech First Assistant.
- Must use aseptic practice and be able to provide equipment and supplies based on patient and surgeon needs.
- Intraoperatively, the Surgical Tech First Assist practices at the direction of the surgeon.
