Following a major expansion, Holy Cross Hospital – Jordan Valley's capacity tripled, now housing 171 beds to serve our growing community. Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
- Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
- Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech
- Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Responsibilities
- Arrange and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases, passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure.
- Assist in preparing and moving patients.
- Sterilize and clean instruments, equipment, and rooms between cases.
- Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
- Perform appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
- Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.
- Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
- Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
- Anticipate possible problems or complications that could arise during case.
- Adjust quickly and prepare for emergent cases that change workflow.
- Be available to take call.
