Surgical Srvcs Patient Liaison
About The Position
The Surgical Services Patient Liaison serves as the frontline representative between surgery patients, family members, medical staff, surgeons, and hospital support staff in the Pre Operative Care Unit. This role ensures services provided on the day of the patient’s surgery are correct based on identified patient care orders, and that the needs and overall coordination of care are completed efficiently and in a timely manner to ensure the patient is prepared for surgery without delay. The liaison also assists the patient’s family members with technical assistance and patient’s status updates information while surgery is in progress.
Requirements
- An associate degree in business administration, or related field. A high school diploma/GED equivalent and additional relevant administrative work experience can be considered on a year-for-year basis in lieu of degree requirement.
- A minimum of three (3) years of administrative work experience preferably in a hospital or outpatient healthcare setting.
- Basic Life Support/CPR (BLS/CPR) certification. Must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire/transfer date.

- Basic working knowledge of commonly known computer applications, such as Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to perform public speaking when needed.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary point of contact for surgery patients and their families on the day of surgery.
- Coordinates communication between patients, families, surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and support staff to ensure all care orders and preparations are completed accurately and without delay.
- Provides real‑time updates to families during surgery.
- Offers basic technical assistance.
- Helps guide families through hospital processes.
