Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Coding or Healthcare related field and two (2) years related medical/coding experience OR
  • Associate’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing/Coding, or other health related degree and four (4) years related medical/coding experience OR
  • High School diploma or equivalent and six (6) years previous related medical/coding experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the MS Office suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, organizational, technical, analytical and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals in all levels of responsibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in hospital/medical office environment
  • Coding degree or Certificate such as RHIA, RHIT or CPC
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of a computerized electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Processes charges for all surgical and procedural areas for Atlanta, Cherokee, Forsyth, Gwinnett and Duluth hospitals.
  • Assists in the supervision of the workload of the Charge team, including shifting personnel to areas needing assistance.
  • Reports the status of the department to the surgery Systems Supervisor overseeing charge processing.
  • Provides support to the Charge Capture Team and ensures all charges are processed in a timely manner.
  • Provides leadership to the Charge Capture Team and assist in ongoing training of the staff.
  • Develops relationships with the clinical staff in all supported areas to ensure timely charging.
