Lead Surgical Scrub Tech - Orthopedic focus
About The Position
NorCal Orthopedic Surgery Center is seeking a surgical technician with an orthopedic focus to join their team. This ASC specializes in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Trauma, and Pain Management, offering a variety of cases from carpal tunnel releases to total joint replacements. The center prioritizes patient care and experience, working alongside physicians from Golden State Orthopedics, Easy Bay Shoulder, and Pain Medicine Consultants. In addition to scrubbing cases, the lead surgical tech will be responsible for the daily oversight of other technicians, ensuring equipment and instruments are available or ordered, and maintaining physician satisfaction.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Competent in Basic Procedures or 1 or more specialty areas and/or facility case mix.
- Must be in good standing.

Responsibilities
- Performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure.
- Supports system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices.
- Actively participates in the surgical operations safety plan.
- Ensures the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
- Maintains the sterile field and a safe environment.
- Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.
- Prepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure.
- May assist with sterile processing.
- Assists the surgeon(s) during the procedure within the ORT scope of practice.
- Identifies emergency situations and exercises judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.
- Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and prepares for the next procedure upon completion of the procedure.
- Participates in training and mentoring (separate from clinical coach role).
- Provides or assists with at least one educational offering or a short-term project per year to the department under the direction of the OR Manager.
- Provides daily oversight of other technicians.
- Ensures that equipment and instruments are available or have been ordered for future cases.
- Ensures physician satisfaction.
