Lead Surgical Scrub Tech - Orthopedic focus
About The Position
NorCal Orthopedic Surgery Center is seeking a surgical technician with an orthopedic focus to join their team. This ASC specializes in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Trauma, and Pain Management, handling a variety of cases from carpal tunnel releases to total joint replacements. The center is dedicated to providing excellent patient care and experience in collaboration with physicians from Golden State Orthopedics, Easy Bay Shoulder, and Pain Medicine Consultants. In addition to scrubbing cases, the lead surgical tech will be responsible for the daily oversight of other technicians, ensuring equipment and instruments are available and ordered for future cases to maintain physician satisfaction.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Competent in Basic Procedures or 1 or more specialty areas and/or facility case mix.
- Must be in good standing.

Responsibilities
- Perform various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure.
- Function under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and report to Surgical Services management.
- Support system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices.
- Actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan.
- Ensure the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
- Maintain the sterile field and a safe environment.
- Recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes.
- Prepare the operating room and instruments for surgical procedures.
- Assist with sterile processing.
- Assist the surgeon(s) during procedures within the ORT scope of practice.
- Identify emergency situations and exercise judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.
- Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure upon completion of the procedure.
- Participate in training and mentoring (separate from clinical coach roles).
- Provide or assist with at least one educational offering or short-term project per year to the department under the direction of the OR Manager.
- Provide daily oversight of other technicians.
- Ensure equipment and instruments are available or have been ordered for future cases and physician satisfaction.
