About The Position

Assists with ensuring the center is properly prepared for the daily schedule by maintaining adequate inventory of supplies, preparing supplies, sterilizing equipment, cleaning the surgical suite between cases, and maintaining sterility and safety logs. The role involves preparing for and assisting in surgical cases, processing specimens, reporting equipment issues, checking and restocking the center, and organizing supplies. Additionally, the Surgical Scrub Tech provides in-service training to staff, assists with administrative tasks, and plays an active role in maintaining a safe patient environment and identifying quality improvement opportunities. This role also includes ordering back office and medical supplies.

Requirements

  • Surgical scrub technician experience
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques and protocols
  • Ability to maintain sterility and safety logs
  • Experience in cleaning and sterilizing equipment
  • Skills in preparing and organizing supplies and equipment
  • Ability to report and troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Experience in processing specimens
  • Ability to provide in-service training
  • Assisting with administrative tasks
  • Understanding of patient safety and infection control
  • Ability to identify quality improvement issues
  • Experience in ordering medical supplies

Responsibilities

  • Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and follows procedures for notification of shortages and reordering.
  • Preparation of supplies.
  • Sterilization of equipment.
  • Cleaning the surgical suite between cases.
  • Maintain sterility and safety logs and protocols.
  • Opening of sterile packs, instruments and supplies to ensure sterile environment during case.
  • Preparing for set up of surgical cases and assisting in surgical cases.
  • Process specimens form surgical cases.
  • Reporting and troubleshooting of all broken and defective supplies or equipment.
  • Checking and restocking center.
  • Organizing supplies and equipment in efficient manner.
  • Provides in-service to staff on equipment and procedures in the surgical center.
  • Assist coordinator and nurses with day to day administrative tasks as needed for cases.
  • Maintains a safe environment for treating the surgical patient, including safeguards to protect the patient from cross infection takes an active role for identifying issues for quality improvement.
  • Orders back office and medical supplies.
