The Surgical Scheduler plays a vital role in assuring whole patient care is made available to each patient through referrals, prior authorizations, appointments and services. The Surgical Scheduler will oversee daily operations of managing APU schedule for Pain Management providers. The Surgical Scheduler will schedule APU cases within the EMR to include the appropriate coding information, staff, equipment and pre-op testing needed. The Surgical Scheduler will follow up with patient’s care team to obtain required clearances and medication instructions prior to surgery. The Surgical Scheduler will verify insurance and obtain prior authorizations that are needed prior to procedure. The Surgical Scheduler will communicate with patients to schedule procedures and explain any prep/testing requirements necessary for procedure. The Surgical Scheduler will act as a liaison between patients, surgeons and APU staff to communicate any questions, concerns or add-on APU cases. The Surgical Scheduler will back up the Clinical Secretary staff as needed. The Surgical Scheduler will proactively ensure all State and Federal regulatory requirements are met. The Surgical Scheduler works closely with Provider Billing to assure compliance and maximum reimbursement.
