About The Position

ChristianaCare is hiring a full time Surgical Scheduler II for our Cancer Thoracic Surgery Department in our Helen F. Graham Center in Newark, DE. As Surgical Scheduler II, you will coordinate and schedule patient surgeries, diagnostic tests, and referrals; arrange medical and cardiac clearances; complete pre-operative testing requirements; and review medications and health histories to ensure surgical readiness. Thoracic Cancers (Lung, Esophageal and Mediastinal) | ChristianaCare Work Schedule: Monday- Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Three to five years of experience in a private medical office and/or outside facility required.
  • One year of surgical scheduling preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • This role is responsible for coordinating surgical and procedural scheduling to ensure seamless patient flow and support physician needs.
  • Key responsibilities include arranging medical and cardiac clearances, managing OR postings and joint surgical cases, coordinating imaging, testing, and specialty appointments, and counseling patients on pre- and post-operative instructions.
  • The position also maintains provider schedules, prepares patient charts, supports front-desk and clinical staff as needed, facilitates new diagnosis workflows, and ensures timely follow-up and communication to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
