About The Position

The Surgical Patient Care Tech provides direct patient care in a surgical inpatient unit under the supervision of a nurse, supporting licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients. The role helps maintain a safe, healing environment and contributes to patient assessment by collecting and reporting clinical information and changes in patient condition. Care is provided using a relationship-based, patient- and family-centered approach.

The position is full-time at 36 hours per week, with day hours of 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Holiday rotation and every third weekend are required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician.
• Certified Nurse Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse, promoting patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Administer or assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and information on patients and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet each patient's needs.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
