About The Position

The Patient Care Technician II reports to the Nurse Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized, patient-centered approach to care and achieve desired outcomes. This position is in the Trauma Burn 5 unit at the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA).

Requirements

• At least one year of work experience in a 0.6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS, or one year of patient-care work experience in a healthcare facility; alternatively, a college degree, active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals at an accredited institution, active enrollment in an accredited healthcare-related field, or Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or equivalent training.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within two weeks of hire and maintain it thereafter. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
• Ability to perform the position's physical and mental functions, including prolonged standing, sitting, and walking; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted; exerting up to 50 pounds of force; frequent fine and gross motor activities; and working effectively in stressful situations.
