About The Position

Responsible for managing and coordinating the operations of the surgical pathology department by overseeing various administrative tasks related to pathology services, laboratory operations, and team coordination. This role involves providing leadership and coordination for the surgical pathology department, overseeing the daily workflow of surgical pathology processes, including accessioning, grossing, processing, and reporting of surgical specimens. It also includes implementing and maintaining quality assurance measures, managing inventory, overseeing databases and electronic health records, and providing supervision and guidance to pathology support staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Surgical Pathology Administrative Experience 5-7 years required
  • Strong knowledge of surgical pathology procedures and laboratory operations.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements, quality assurance standards, and accreditation guidelines for pathology services.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree Laboratory Sciences preferred
  • Supervisory/Leadership Experience 2-3 years preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and coordination for the surgical pathology department.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of surgical pathology processes, including the accessioning, grossing, processing, and reporting of surgical specimens.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and accreditation standards, such as CAP (College of American Pathologists) or CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments).
  • Manage the inventory of pathology supplies, reagents, and equipment.
  • Oversee the maintenance of pathology databases and electronic health records systems related to surgical specimens.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to pathology support staff, including histotechnologists, pathology assistants, and administrative personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and accreditation requirements governing surgical pathology services.
