Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a dental or surgical assisting program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- State-specific dental assistant or surgical assistant certification (as applicable)
- Minimum 1–2 years of surgical or oral surgery assisting experience
- Familiarity with OSHA, CDC, and infection control protocols
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in dental software systems (Denticon)
- IV sedation monitoring certification (if applicable)
- Radiology certification and experience with digital imaging
Responsibilities
- Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures such as extractions, implants, bone grafts, and IV sedation cases
- Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment, including instruments and operatory setup
- Monitor patient vitals and comfort levels before, during, and after procedures
- Document surgical procedures accurately in the dental software system
- Manage surgical inventory and order materials as needed
- Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients and caregivers
- Support sedation and recovery protocols in accordance with practice and regulatory standards
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards at all times
- Collaborate closely with the front office, sterilization, and clinical teams to ensure efficiency
