About The Position

Midland Medical is seeking a passionate Surgical Coordinator in Oakland Park, FL, to manage the preoperative medical clearance process. This full-time role involves coordinating appointments, communicating with various stakeholders, scheduling tests, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted on time. The ideal candidate is dedicated to patient care, particularly for individuals impacted by HIV, Hepatitis C, STIs, and other infectious diseases, and will contribute to the company's mission and values. Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) issued by an accredited institution approved by the local State.
  • 3 years’ clinical experience in healthcare setting.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) Certification
  • Electronic Medical Records training
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a Level I and Level II Background check as required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all preoperative medical clearance appointments and serves as the primary point of coordination for the clearance process.
  • Communicates with surgeons’ offices and surgical facilities regarding surgery dates, required documentation, facility-specific clearance requirements, and submission deadlines.
  • Obtains and reviews surgical clearance requirements and preoperative orders from surgeons’ offices and surgical facilities to ensure all necessary requirements are identified.
  • Schedules and coordinates required preoperative testing, including EKGs, laboratory testing, office visits, imaging, specialist consultations, and other testing as ordered or required.
  • Ensures all required preoperative testing, consultations, and documentation are completed and available for provider review prior to established surgery deadlines.
  • Tracks surgery dates and maintains an accurate, organized, and current surgical/preoperative clearance schedule, including pending and completed cases.
  • Prepares complete surgical clearance packets and verifies that provider notes, test results, medication lists, clearance forms, and supporting documentation are accurate and complete.
  • Faxes or electronically transmits completed medical clearance documentation to surgeons’ offices, hospitals, and surgical facilities within required timeframes and documents completion appropriately.
  • Clinical Duties: As established by local state Medical Assistant scope of practice.
